AS FAR AS THE EXPOSITORY ESSAY IS CONCERNED, YOUR THESIS can be formed by RE-WORDING THE QUESTION. FOR EXAMPLE:
LET'S SAY YOU CHOOSE NUMBER 2
Self -Transformation is the ability to
transform, evolve, grow and develop within a particular realm that most often
relates to identity. Unequivocally, self -discovery derives from self -transformation
and the process by which a new self is born. Discuss self- transformation or
reformulation as it is exemplified in Bharati Mukherjee’s Two Ways to Belong in
America. Discuss assimilation, acceptance, culture and community and the
ways in which all of the above contribute to Bharati’s understanding of the
self? How are Mira and Bharati similar? What makes them different.
HERE IS A SAMPLE BACKGROUND WITH A THESIS STATEMENT. THIS IS YOUR INTRODUCTION.
Self Transformation is the ability to transform and grow. Individuals who develop and grow within a particular culture whether it be their own or an adopted culture, begin to identify and gain a new understanding of themselves. Self discovery and transformation is clearly evident in "Two Ways to Belong in America" by Mukerjee. In this written piece two sisters are forced to evolve and grow and either accept or reject a culture that is new to them. Bharati and Mira have very different views . One sister transforms and assimilates into the American culture and way of life while Mira although she acknowledges this new culture, refuses to assimilate. These two sisters are both similar and different in the way they transform, discover themselves and seek a new cultural identity.
The THESIS IS IN ITALICS. KEEP IN MIND THAT YOUR BACKGROUND LEADS UP TO YOUR THESIS. YOUR THESIS IS A CLEAR STATEMENT OF WHAT YOUR ESSAY WILL BE ABOUT.
IN THIS CASE IT IS EASY. I GAVE YOU THE TOPIC. YOUR ESSAY IS ABOUT ANSWERING THE QUESTIONS I GAVE YOU. SO RE-WORD THE QUESTIONS AND PROVIDE THE BACKGROUND AND THESIS.
THE MORE TIME GOES ON AND WE PRACTICE THE EASIER THIS WILL BECOME. KEEP IN MIND. THESIS IS NOT EASY FOR ANYONE. IT TAKES TIME AND EFFORT. IT IS A WORK IN PROGRESS
YOU ARE ALL DOING WELL AND I LOOK FORWARD TO YOUR PRESENTATIONS ON TUESDAY.
